Our Services

Acquisition

Torrington acquires assets in markets throughout the Northeast with a focus on repositioning through a comprehensive construction program while maximizing operational efficiencies. Our strategy is centered around well located and under managed assets, which provides our firm an opportunity to create long-term value. We have deep relationships with both sellers and brokers, resulting in purchases that do not come to the open market.

Development

Torrington carefully selects multi-family development sites in areas that are supply constrained. We are actively involved in permitting, financing, design, construction and managing each development through full stabilization. To date, our company and its principals have been part of over five ground-up developments totaling over 600 apartments with an aggregate value in excess of $400 million.

Asset Management

Torrington exclusively manages our own assets, providing full attention to each property. Our staff of over twenty professionals is dedicated to ensuring that each asset is managed to the highest possible standard, all while ensuring strong performance.

Student Housing

Through its subsidiary, Campus Flats, Torrington acquires and improves student housing communities at colleges and universities located throughout the Northeast. For more information, please visit campusflats.com.

Leadership

Jay Bisognano - Chief Executive Officer & Principal

Jay Bisognano founded Torrington Properties as a real estate investment firm in 2014 with the goal to capitalize on opportunities in value-added investment, development and management. As Chief Executive Officer, Jay currently oversees the firm’s investment strategy, development function and all new business.

In addition to this role, Jay serves as founder and partner of Stonington Capital, a real estate finance company based in Boston.

Jay is currently the co-chair of the board of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County, a nonprofit focused on providing safety, healing, and justice to children and their families impacted by abuse and exploitation.

Jay received a BS in Entrepreneurship from Quinnipiac University.

Matt Morgan - Chief Operating Officer & Principal

Matt joined Torrington Properties as a Principal in October 2016. With a diverse background in development, investment, management and brokerage, Matt’s experiences guide the business operations including the firm’s real estate portfolio as well as sourcing new acquisitions and developments. Additionally, he is involved in the asset management of all acquisitions to ensure that the strategic plan for each property is implemented effectively.

Prior to Torrington, Matt was at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank serving as managing director in the company’s Boston office, where he specialized in the representation of tenants and landlords in both lease and sales transactions. He has been involved in the sale or lease of more than 11 million square feet of commercial space. Prior to joining NGKF, Matt was a Director at Cushman & Wakefield and a Vice President at Parsons Commercial Group.

Matt supports many local charitable causes and sits on the Board of Trustees as the Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County.

Matt earned his BA in Economics at Eastern Connecticut State University.

Our Team

Michael Brodigan - Senior Financial Analyst

Mike joined Torrington Properties in June 2022 as Senior Analyst. Prior to joining Torrington, Mike worked at Arbor Realty Trust where he was responsible for underwriting debt transactions on multifamily properties nationwide. As Senior Analyst at Torrington, Mike contributes to all new acquisitions, dispositions, capital markets, and asset management. Mike graduated from Providence College with a degree in Finance.

Marisa Cataldo - Regional Property Manager

Marisa Cataldo serves as one of Torrington’s Property Managers. She joined Torrington with seven+ years in residential management. Her expertise is in luxury high-rise residential management. Marisa also holds her real estate license. She graduated from Suffolk University School of Business with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Marketing.

Tracey Cheney - Community Manager, Campus Flats

Tracey Cheney serves as the Community Manager of the Off-Campus Student Housing subsidiary, Campus Flats, at Torrington Properties located in Durham NH.  She joined in 2016 with 15+ years of experience working in a family owned and operated Real Estate Property Management and Development company.  Tracey volunteers for many local non-profit organizations throughout the Seacoast Area.

Sean Donahue - Development & Construction Project Manager

Sean Donahue serves as Development Project Manager for Torrington Properties. He joins Torrington with over 7 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. He has served as project engineer, senior project engineer, assistant project manager and most recently Project Manager for C.E. Floyd Company. Sean received his BS in Civil Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Matthew Donaghey - Director of Property Operations & Asset Management

Matthew has over 15 years of experience in real estate and operations.  He started his career at the real estate investment arm of Fidelity Investments, and, most recently, Matt was Vice President & Director of Operations for Hobbs Brook Real Estate. HBRE is the real estate investment arm of FM Global, a mutual insurance company with offices around the world.

Matthew has served on the Board of Directors of the Woburn Boys & Girls Club for the past 14 years and is a past president of the board. Matthew is a graduate of Northeastern University and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Pete Doucet - Director of Construction & Development

Pete Doucet serves as Torrington’s Director of Development. Pete has over 20 years experience in the commercial construction industry and has held numerous positions including roles as project engineer, project manager, superintendent and most recently Director of Operation for CE Floyd. Pete received his BS in Construction Management from Roger Williams University.

Jose Estrada - Director of Capital Projects and Maintenance

Jose Estrada serves as the Director of Capital Projects and Maintenance. In this role, he is responsible for all capitol projects as well as oversight of the firm’s maintenance staff in Boston. Jose has held similar roles with other real estate firms in Boston and has been a member of Torrington since 2015.

Tessa Fiola - Property Manager

Tessa Fiola joined Torrington Properties first as a receptionist at our Campus Flats Leasing Office located in Durham, NH. Since then, Tessa has worked as a Property Manager in the Durham Office and has most recently joined our team of Leasing Experts in Boston, MA, as a Property Manager.

Elias Gebregziabhere - Accounting Associate

Elias Gebregziabhere serves as Torrington’s Accounting Associate. Elias is responsible for helping the finance team with AP, AR, Documentation & other accounting transactions. Elias earned his BA & MBA in Accounting & Finance from Ethiopia & worked as a Senior Internal Auditor in the past.

Allison Goodwin - Director, Business Operations & Human Resources

Allison Goodwin serves as the Director of Business Operations & Human Resources at Torrington. Allison joined Torrington in 2013 after working in a number of roles in Bank of America’s Corporate and Investment Banking and Risk Management groups. She graduated from Harvard College.

Dana Halsey - Director of Interior Design

Dana Halsey joined Torrington in 2016 as the Executive Assistant to the CEO. Since then, she has joined the Construction Team as the Director of Design and Marketing. Dana is responsible for overseeing the Interior Design of all construction projects as well as all marketing and branding projects within Torrington. She graduated from Fordham University with a degree in Communications.

Bill Lawrence - Director of Maintenance, Campus Flats

Bill Lawrence joined Torrington Properties in 2018 as the Director of Maintenance for Veridian Residences in Portsmouth, NH. Since then, he has relocated to our off-campus student housing subsidiary Campus Flats in Durham and is responsible for the oversight of maintenance staff and 27 student housing buildings. Bill comes from a long background of maintenance, customer service and many years as a volunteer Fire Chief.

Isabelle Leonardi - Marketing Coordinator

Isabelle joined Torrington as an Office Coordinator. In this role, she manages the office and supports the partners and Torrington team. Isabelle graduated from Nichols College and has recently relocated back to the Boston area from Florida. Previously, she worked as a Leasing Consultant.

Michael Norris - Chief Financial Officer

Michael Norris has over 25 years of experience working in the commercial and residential real estate business with extensive tax, accounting, reporting, and compliance experience.

Prior to joining Torrington, Mike spent twelve years at Marcus Partners in Boston. During his tenure he was an integral member of the company’s finance and accounting team, most recently as Senior Vice President and Director of Accounting, directly assisting in the acquisition, disposition, development, and financing of over $2 billion in real estate. Mike was also in charge of the company’s financial reporting and tax compliance function for its real estate funds and investment portfolio.  Mike also served as the Chief Compliance Officer for the firm.  Prior to Marcus Partners, Mike served as the Director of Financial and Portfolio Reporting at New Boston Fund.

Mike is a licensed CPA in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and received his B.S. in Accounting from Bentley University. Mike also received an MBA from the Carrol School of Management at Boston College.  Mike is an active member of the American Institute and Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Vince Parziale - Director of Finance and Accounting

Vince Parziale joined Torrington Properties as the Director of Finance and Accounting. He is responsible for leading the finance and accounting team while overseeing day-to-day operations, cash management, financial statement preparation, internal controls, investor reporting, tax preparation and risk mitigation. Vince earned a BA in Accounting from Gettysburg College.

Ryan Shirkoff - Property Accountant

Ryan Shirkoff joined Torrington in 2022 as a Property Accountant. He provides day to day accounting support and monthly financial review for half of the firm’s portfolio, including Campus Flats and the commercial entities. Ryan graduated from Bentley University with a degree in Accountancy.

Tom Sullivan - Property Manager

Tom Sullivan joined Torrington Properties having worked for three years in property management, and previously as a leasing professional and assistant property manager.

Tom graduated from Bentley University with a degree in economics and finance and was a member of their football team.

Ashley Tremblay - Regional Property Manager

Ashley Tremblay serves as one of Torrington’s Property Managers. She joined Torrington after working for several other Boston based Real Estate Development Companies as Property Manager. She went to Vermont Technical College persuing a degree in Architectural Building Technology and went on to graduate from Academy of Art University with a BA in Interior Design and AA in Architecture.

Taylor Ward - Resident Services Coordinator

Taylor joined Torrington as Resident Services Coordinator. In this role, she is responsible for communicating directly with our residents while supporting both the property management and maintenance teams. Taylor previously worked as a Leasing Agent. She graduated from Nichols College.
